About James Design Studio ARCHITECTURE + INTERIORS

Our primary objective is the happiness and wellbeing of the inhabitants of the building. We believe that good design is not only necessary to add to quality of life but also add value to a building and this has been proven time and time again. It is not uncommon to see a number James Design Studio buildings in the same street. We specialise in both contemporary and traditional building typologies. We have a dedicated and knowledgeable heritage department. With regard to buildings in conservation areas, we pride ourselves in having an in-depth knowledge of the Australian vernacular and how it has evolved over the past century and beyond. We believe that in order to successfully alter these buildings we must first try and understand the mindset of the original Architect. We must understand the traditional design principles and construction techniques and from there we create a building which incorporates modern living and desirable and necessary environmental principles.
