Detailed reviews
Very unhappy with the project. It took 11 months from signing the contract to project completion. 5 months from work commencement to finish vs. 4 weeks as stated on the contract, yet there are no penalty terms against Install A Veranda. We requested a veranda and a deck. Veranda was built with speed and quality, but the deck was a nightmare. Initially they did the subfloor framing in a wrong way because they didn't follow the contract but followed a poor wrong hand drawing. Then we were facing countless of rescheduling, no-show, cancellation and no-response. They said they would come, then before the day I was told that they couldn't come or they wanted to come another day, or on the day they simply didn't show up at all. I asked them whether they'd come or not - no response. If I was lucky I'd get a message the next day from [Name Removed] saying they couldn't come due to this and that, or never got a response from them at all. Such things happened sooo many times! There was one time though [Name Removed] said he would come on Sunday at 7am and finish everything, and he did come though he showed up at 12pm and left at 2pm. What he did during that 2 hours was just walking around the deck like window shopping, moving a few pieces around and checking his phone. In the end he told us he couldn't finish it and would come back the next week with his boys to finish everything, though no one showed up the next week.. When all building work was finally finished, they suddenly became so active that they could call you 3 times a days asking when the final payment could be made even before the final inspection happened. They care more about money than customers. I must say the people who actually built the things were very professional, efficient and accountable, and the only star is for them. I figure it's the management inside the company that has serious issues. UPDATE on 07/11/23: (putting this update back with edits) Got water leak between veranda roof and house eave due to the storm today which is very disappointing. This is only 3 months after building completion. The leak was severe and we had to cover our new wooden kitchen cabinet to protect it. UPDATE on 15/11/23: [Name Removed] asked me a few days ago to check gutters with an I-know-all-and-you-know-nothing attitude. I had no idea how gutters at the lower end of the roof can cause water leak at the higher end of the roof but I did it and later provided a photo with a clean roof in it. UPDATE on 30/11/23: Rob came to inspect on 28/11 without a notice, and left 10 minutes later without a word. I didn't get any report until I sent an email to ask them. No surprise - that's how they do comms. Then they sent me photos showing leaves in gutters claiming it's the leaf jam that caused the leak and asking me to clean the leaves. Oh yes, the leaves that have been accumulating for 2 weeks now becomes the culprit. Having no idea why their veranda can't even handle rainwater resulting from gutter jamming (if this were the truth), not to mention the nearest leaking spot is 3 metres away from the gutter, I managed to draw a diagram to illustrate where the leaking spots and leaves in gutters locate and explain from a basic physics / common sense perspective, yet this changed nothing at all. They asked me to clean the gutter, take a photo and test if the leak still exists, just like I made a mistake and they're helping me correct it. Excuse me? Who built the veranda in the first place? Isn't it Install A Veranda's responsibility to test and make sure the veranda is water proof under normal weather? UPDATE on 04/12/2023: Got a call from [Name Removed] insisting that I should clean the gutters (mud, grass, etc.), test it in the next rain and see if there are still leaks before they can fix anything. Images attached - no leaks around the most jammed area but 3-4 meters away. Why? Which is the real culprit? Jammed gutter or failed veranda sealing? BTW - it was "wise" to blame [Name Removed], who already left the company, for breaking the 4-week project timeline. Nice job! UPDATE on 3/4/2024: Contacted VBA and found out there's actually a building compliance for verandas. And abviously their work didn't meet the compliance. As a result, they had to send [Name Removed] to come two times to apply fixes. Then it was dry weather in Jan and Feb until the crazy storm. Severe leaking happened but they said the storm was too strong and was not something a veranda could handle. Well, fine. Then on 1/4 another rain came. It was heavy but definitely within the normal range. This time, leak water went into the eave where there's light and electric wire (video attached), and it caused power outage in kitchen and living room. We couldn't cook and things inside the fridge started to melt. I contacted Install A Verenda and asked them to fix it urgently. A day has passed and still got no reply from them.

We had a quote which says no obligation quote. A sales representative went to our house and discussed what we want. He did measurements and drawings describing how it will sit in our house. After computation of the costs, we were surprised it was so expensive, then told us they have promo that he can give us a huge discount. It was really a big discount but as i discussed with my wife, we decided to think about it first and told the sales person. The sales person said they will give us further discount if we get it that day. But we still want to think about it and we’re not in a rush having it. Suddenly the sales person becomes rude. He told us in a rude manner that he can’t believe that we’re still not getting it after that further discount. That we wasted his time and so many things he said in a rude manner.
Hard to believe that we are still paying our plumber to fix the shoddy workmanship of this business. The work was so poor causing the veranda to leak and our plumber had to put rivets in and silicone to stop us getting wet. Run for the hill, people, away from this company!!
I recently had Install a Veranda provide me with a Stratco outdoor veranda. Many hurdles with local council permits, developer requirements and communication of information issues over 11 months meant patience, persistance , perserverance and frustration by all parties saw it finally installed. The 2 installers were very efficient and polite and completed the job with no issues. I am happy with the completed project and look forward to spending time outdoors under the veranda. It is a shame that it took so long to complete.
My veranda was installed on 18 Nov, 2020. It has been taken a long time for the job to be done due to the Covid. Now it has turned out a fantastic veranda, high quality and the man was so attention at the details. So happy with the service. I highly recommend Install A Veranda.
