Detailed reviews
Rip off. Was told $240. Ended up getting a bill for $2k plus. Will be contacting ACCC and taking legal action. This is unconscionable conduct.PS. originally called Jim’s plumbing ended up being ‘Mr Emergency’ All the 5 star reviews are written in the same style - mentions a name, knowledgeable and professional, would NOT use them again. Rotten to the core.
I needed to replace my hot water system and thought the best way to avoid surprises is to go to a well known brand. Called Jim's Plumbing hotline, who booked me for a visit with $144 callout fee. Yes, believe it or not they charge to give you a quote! Anyway, in my naïve mind I thought I pay this to insure myself for the future. Wrong! The confirmation/receipt email arrived with the "Plumbing & Gas Australia" title and the website is in the net.au domain, but I expected it to be in the com.au. I called the call center again and told them I expect a Jim's vehicle to visit my place, and they assures me this would be the case. Wrong! The technician arrived in the "UpsideDown" branded vehicle. His quote was very high, almost 2.5 times of the market price. The cylinder that is being sold for almost $1500 online is quoted almost $8,000 plus other costs. The total cost should have been less than $4,000, but is quoted more that &10,000. I will never trust similar businesses again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
I replaced my hot water system with Jim's Plumbing - having not done this before in my life I was relatively inexperienced in what this should cost. Intuitively when the plumber left, I was concerned I had paid an inflated and unreasonable amount. I contacted Jim's and requested an invoice that clearly separated cost of goods and labor, this was never provided. I'm $1500 out of pocket which is simply unfair and a long bow to pull and think reasonable to get away with in a competitive market. Do not use Jim's Plumbing.
Rip off merchants. I found out they charged me $100 more than the part was worth and also charged me an extra 15min block when it wasn't even used. On top of a ridiculous $275 call out fee!! All up - $700 to replace a hot water valve that took 5mins Will never use Jim's group again!
I had a blocked yet slow draining toilet. I called Jim’s Pluming and paid the $140+ call out fee immediately. The technician came within an hour, and quoted me $739 to unblock it with a hydrojet. I said will it scratch my toilet? I was promised not. So I authorised to start the job and the Long story short, I spent more than $800, and now the tech scratched my toilet, it is now fully blocked with a rough caulking job, and to remedy this block I need to pay an extra $1,500? I called another plumber and they found the toilet paper 6 metres deep and cleared it in an hour.
Played a $140 call out fee. I was quoted $4097. RIP OFF. I contacted a local plumber and he did the work on the same day for $860 The part that sticks out to me is Jim's saying, "We can't quote over the phone. But arrives and says its a fixed price." Which could have been over the phone, but then they wouldn't get the job. Absolute scam artists. I will never be using Jim's service ever again. Disgusting.
Problem was a roof leak into house. Paid $141 for totally 100% disengaged , disinterested guy to come to my house , do absolutely nothing and tell me it would cost a further $740 for him to do an “assessment” of the roof so that he could potentially find the problem. The cost of fixing the problem would be on top of that. He didn’t even bring a ladder so fully intended to do nothing and not looking on or in roof- just handed me that ridiculous quote. He wasn’t a Jim’s he was subcontracted by Jim’s- wore another uniform but is affiliated with Jim’s. So bad for Jim’s brand which used to be good in the old days . Took time off work for that utter waste of time and insult to intelligence.
Booked job with Jim’s who outsourced to Mr Emergency. They charged me $5,258 for a job that several plumbers who I have since consulted, would have charged no more than $2,100.
