Sandhurst Roofing

Although the final product of a lovely roof was achieved, the road getting there was absolutely HELL . Poor communication but lots of bravado of how it is easy and no problem and will be finished in 2 days. Chose this company as they seemed pleasant and professional and assured us all staff were qualified and they can eadily get the job done. In the middle of winter for a roof change we were very concerned but everything we were told to assure us was just bravado. Told 5 guys will get it done easily. All talk no follow through, follow up or action. Extremely unprofessional. 1. Booked to begin work on a Monday. At 830 young guy shows up and tells me they are just dropping things off and can’t begin roof today as the guys won a footy match the day before and were all hung over. Not a good start and first impression. 2. Rang owner to complain who assured us no need to worry and apologised and assured us next day will be onto it. Confirmed a thunderstorm on Thursday and time running out and assured finished on Wednesday. How wrong he was 3. Tuesday 830am qualified roofer arrives with a teenage helper. Not qualified and not able to be on roof. So much for their documentation atating all staff are wualified. Turns out to be owners step son who basically sat around all day and could not lift tin on roof. Also provided great attitude when asked to work. Further complaints to owner with further apologies and assurance roof will be finished. We had to get on roof to pass tin up to man on roof as now terrified at slow pace and thundrstorms. To end the horrendous day the two of them had to leave before 3pm for a doctors appointment and to quote another roof. Such social hours for tradies working 830am to before 3pm. Thundestorm still in Thursday and only 1/4 of room on and tarps covering now for 4 days already. 4. Wednesday. Finally 2 qualifued tradies arrive at 8am and begin work. Worked well but by end of day only half of roof on. More complaints to owner who apologised and assures roof finished Thursday before storm arrives. Wednesday night thunderstorm begins at 3am. The roofers from Wednesday do not put tarps on properly and my kitchen , dining and loungeroom flood under torrential rain. 5. Wake up to flooded mess and begin cleaning. 4 roofers arrive at 0730 and place additional tarp on roof then say they are leaving due to rain. No apology for me and I clean it up. Complain further to owner as storm now passed and he getsguys to wait 15 mins till rain atops and radar shos no rain. Onsite supervisor send 1 man home. Rain stops 15 mins later and work begins. Gets most of roof on and leave at 330pm. 15 mins later severe thunderstorm goes through. If only they kept the 4 th man instead of sending him home roof would have been secure. 6. Friday two qualified guys arrive and get roof finished. Now had to wait for tin flashing and installation of downpipes and wirlybirds etc. This was finished on Monday with final check and cleanup on Tuesday. 7. Account paid as just over the entire process and still had to wait over 2 weeks for the roofing certificate. Do not use. Much more professional and organised roofers out there around the Mornington Penninsula. All talk and bravado and no follow through with what has been agreed to. Didnot actually listen to what was requested and then had to check several times with several different people and then still messed up. Incompetence abound. Unqualfied staff on site as well as. Ot enough staff to actually do the job. Expected 1 man and a boy to complete roof which is physically impossible. Provided free upgrade of 6 downpipes from pvc to colourbond which although kind was severely understated for the trouble they caused and the help we had to provide in passing up tin and holding paper and insulation whilst tin being installed on the roof by 1 person. I found myself as constantly having to ring owner to find out what was happening as the company never provided details unless i chased them. Several neighbours complained anout the lound abusive lamguage used by the onsite supervisor when he finally showed up. He expected 1 person on roof to fit tin and hold insulation and paper down for two days alone but when he tried he found it extreamy challenging and constantly swore out obscenities whilst struggling with the wind whilst stating at the same time we should not have been helping the man the previous day. Without our help the roof would never have got on snd the storm damage would have neen far worse. No time management and care with replacing tarps or care of a thunderstorm going to come through in 4 days. For a roof that we were constantly assured finished in time we were let down time and tome again and we did mot trust or believe a word they said. Everything they said was just to keep us calm which we did even when disaster after disaster occured. They are a circus act and they perform the role of clowns with absolute perfection. A shame they could not actually provide communication and behave ethically and professional as the roof is lovely.
