I was extremely happy with my Freedom kitchen -until the edges of some cupboards PEELED! It was within the warranty period, so Freedom was obliged to replace them. Later on, further edges peeled. I was informed I would have to pay for replacement cupboards, since the warranty period had expired. Freedom takes no responsibility for bad workmanship after warranty. I believe Freedom should replace my peeling cupboards, being due to faulty workmanship, but of course I realise they won’t! As a result, I won’t be employing Freedom again and neither will my friends or family who have heard my sorry tale!
⭐️ 1 Star – Do Not Use Freedom Kitchens Worst decision I ever made. There was no real design process — just generic CAD drawings done remotely with no one ever visiting my home. The cupboards were hung 700 mm above the bench (should be ~450 mm), and the layout is unusable — even the dishwasher and cupboards can’t open at the same time. Freedom referred unlicensed trades who plastered over live wires, creating a major safety risk. When I raised concerns, no one would come to inspect, and replies took days. Hidden fees, poor workmanship, unsafe practices, and zero accountability. If you want a real kitchen, hire a qualified local joiner — not Freedom.
DO NOT USE FREEDOM KITCHENS! Apparently they do NOT allow for the installation of appliances when measuring/manufacturing cabinetry ie. our oven sticks out of the cabinetry by 8mm due to not allowing enough for power to be connected within the Australian Standards. Freedom ask for ALL specs, model numbers etc for the appliances, yet, they don't check the installation and allowances to be made for them to be compliant. When speaking to Freedom they have no reply other than it is the way the electrician has installed. The electrician has installed as per Australian Standards, however, Freedom don't care about this even when i point out it will void our insurance, warranty etc if installed to how they suggest to 'fit' in the cabinetry. No accountability for the inaccurate measurements taken! So disappointing when you chose Freedom for their experience etc. DON'T DO IT!! No accountability because it is all too hard for them.
Do not use this company – they are an absolute disgrace. At the site check (which is Freedom’s responsibility), the site checker failed to measure our butler’s sink correctly. As a result, the cabinet Freedom made is too small, and we were forced to buy a brand-new sink at our own expense. After countless phone calls and emails, Freedom has refused to take any responsibility, instead trying to shift all the blame onto the installer. This is clearly a site check issue, not an installation issue. The installer offered a “solution,” which involved removing the left filler side, but we refused because it would have made the cabinet look uneven and unprofessional. Despite this being a direct result of Freedom’s error, they have refused to reimburse us for the new sink. Their customer service has been rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful throughout the entire process. Freedom takes no accountability for their mistakes, passes the blame onto anyone else they can, and treats customers with zero respect. We will never use Freedom again and strongly urge others to go elsewhere. Save yourself the stress, money, and frustration — this company is not worth it.
Horrendous service. We booked the “free initial consultation” with a designer. The person that turned up couldn’t be more disengaged and uninterested. He was constantly on his phone texting. We are renovating our kitchen which will expand significantly. The number of times he made a comment about how much everything will cost and if we had the budget was insulting. At the end, we were offered a huge discount however, we had to sign up right there and then. Ofcourse we didn’t. Partly due to the designer’s attitude and I’m using the word “designer” very loosely here. Terrible experience. Will never spend money with Freedom out of principle. How sad given the amount of money the company invested with The Block, only to have it ruined by sneaky and misleading deals and unengaged staff. Oh the session was over a week ago and there has been no follow up from anyone at Freedom.
I do not recommend anyone to use this company. The worst company I've ever dealt with in the building industry - do not even deserve one star. I found their sales tactics so sneaky. They send you a designer for 'free initial consultation' and try to lock you in the contract on the spot by offering a big discount that is ONLY available when you sign & pay the deposit while the designer is there. Once you signed the contract, you only deal with customer service who has absolutely no care about their customers. When something goes wrong with their trades, they take absolutely no responsibility. We called Freedom Kitchens when their trades refused to do our kitchen due to asbestos wall, they said 'we do not deal with installation' even though their quote includes installation of kitchen and they appoint their own installer. As no one from the customer service team could help, we called the designer who initially dealt with. She said she was a contractor and did not actually work for Freedom directly! She said she would pass this onto the QLD state manager, but we did not get a single phone call or message from the person. We ended up finding a local kitchen installer on our own who was willing to do our kitchen. It took us extra weeks to find our own installer, so we contacted Freedom to change the delivery date. The person who I spoke to did not care about what had happened about installation of our kitchen. She just told me that there would be an additional storage fee if we were to move the delivery date! At this point, I completely lost trust in this company. Nightmare with this company went on during the kitchen installation. When we contacted Freedom Kitchens for a replacement panel that was supplied as the wrong size, they tried to put it back on us, saying 'the panel was supplied as per your approved plan' and they tried to charge us for the panel. I had to go through all the paperwork that we signed and prove that this shouldn’t be at our fault. I found that the whole thing about their service is that they pass responsibility back onto customers every time something goes wrong. And with anything out of their normal procedure, they try to charge you extra. After spending $40K, I cannot describe how frustrating & upsetting the whole experience was. If anyone is planning to do their kitchen renovation, I would highly recommend use a local kitchen company. Absolutely horrendous from start to finish.
