What customers say about A1 Flooring
Highlights
"A1 Flooring were independently recommended to me by two family members. I have polished baltic/radiata pine floors throughout my home and I understand they were originally sanded and polished approximately 25 years ago. A comprehensive quote was provided prior to the job which involved re-sanding and polishing all rooms. Dealing with all members of the team was positive and they were very responsive to questions etc. My home is an old bungalow and I wanted the front and back steps completed as well as steps between different floor levels. The back step had quite a bit of water damage and rot but they were able to repair it to a much better state. Steve did the majority of the work and did a terrific job. - I chose the water based satin finish largely because I wanted the least toxic option and have a dog. The floors look great - very mellow. I am very happy to recommend this company. Karen"
"Highly recommend A1 Flooring Adelaide. The team (Chris, Brad, Adrian and Ryan) made the selection and laying processes as seamless and stress less as possible. We opted to change the boards from Spotted Gum to Premium Oak Matterhorn and they were very accommodating. Ryan and Adrian were meticulous with the preparation and laying of the boards (110 sqm) and completed the task within 5 days to a very high standard. Couldn’t be happier."
"Reliable quote, friendly service from Chris. Steve sanded and vanished our loungeroom, fantastic job. Glad i rang them A+ guys."
Detailed reviews
On my first visit to A1 Flooring the person I saw was informative, friendly and knowledgeable he provided great customer service and was willing to cater to our out of the box needs. I then made a phone call and spoke to the same person who again was more than willing to help us in our slightly unique situation. Based on this great customer service we decided to take the plunge and go with A1. The next time I went in to make a deposit and get the ball rolling I encountered "The Owner" he was not so helpful but did not come straight out and say he did not want the job. Rather he started making excuses that the boards could not be placed on uneven cement and they would have to see the floor. We assured him the cement was fine and if there were any issues we would resolve them so the job can be done. I asked for the "friendly" person (I will refrain from naming people) I had encountered to come out and see the job to quote. Instead the first appointment was cancelled and the second one that was made, the owner came out instead. He saw and measured up, at which time he advised he would get back to me with a quote. From the first meeting with him it was clear to us that he did not want the job for some reason but we liked the product so were willing to put up with the poor customer service. On coming out to see the job he advised he would get back to us with a quote in the next few days. I had to ring a week later to find out when we would be getting the quote only to be told they would not be quoting after all as our job was too hard and he was" just trying to be honest" with me. If he was trying to be honest with me he would have told me from the start he did not want the job not wait to come out and see if it was worth his while. If he had been honest with me he may have had a sale after all, because we could have arranged to buy the product and have someone else install it since it was "too hard" to work around what our requirements were. More interested in the big jobs and big dollars rather than good job and good customer service. Moral of the story ....you can never tell what other jobs a customer may have in mind. Thank you A1 flooring for wasting my time but saving me from making a big mistake.
A1 Flooring We recently built a new home with the most amazing builder, he is more a perfectionist than myself!!!! When you build your floors are not included, that's normal so we had a separate contract for our floors. We chose A1 Flooring at Beulah Park because they promised an A1 job and according to their website they claim that they are ........ "A1 Flooring The Timber Flooring Centre has been committed to providing quality flooring solutions in Adelaide for over 25 years. The advice & knowledge we offer comes from our many years of experience and dedication to ensure that the customers get the best possible result. Our friendly & knowledgeable staffs are here to help you in making the best decision for your flooring project.' After now being told that new homes aren't designed for timber floors we would have expected as part of their 'experience and dedication to ensure that the customers get the best possible result' it would have been appropriate to share this with us prior to laying the floor rather than using the design of our home as the excuse why our floors are separating! After some delay with our order we needed to wait for our boards to cure before they could be laid, we knew this and wanted an A1 job so we supported this delay! Our floors were laid beautifully with much attention to detail, the contractor was fantastic, very personable and diligent in his work. Our floors were then to sit for a couple of weeks whilst other jobs were completed, painting etc! As planned the sanders came in on the date expected to sand and polish our boards with a Matt Satin water based finish. Despite being told this would take 5 days to complete, ( timing was crucial as our lease was ending) you then need to leave the floors for 4-7 days to cure before you can put furniture on them) they took 3 days to sand them and then applied 3 coats of finish in 1 1/2 days. The last coat was rejected due to not leaving it long enough in cold, wet weather to dry sufficiently before applying the next coat resulting in an orange peel appearance and blotches over the entire floor. There were also scratches and dents which had clearly not come out in the sanding process indicating a second rate sanding job, not the A1 job we were expecting! After having someone out to look at the job ( who got very defensive, was rude and appeared to try and back out of their responsibilities! ) they reluctantly agreed to re do the entire floor for which we were very grateful but time was running short our end and now to have floors redone and allow it to set hard before placing furniture we were cutting it very fine! We paid to have an inspection by someone from the timer flooring association as even after the floors being redone, there were blotches and an uneven finish. Not something you expect with a brand new floor! The inspector spoke with A1 flooring as per the process when organising an inspection. It appears the flooring standards are quite loose in our opinion........ and our investment was wasted. And here we are in November with floor boards that are separating in all parts of the house, in full sun, in full shade and everywhere in between!!!!! We organised to have someone come and check out what was happening, the same rude, defensive A1 person from before....... all the excuses about timber being a natural product, the light, not enough air con etc, etc, the movement was huge and according to a second opinion it was because the boards were laid before they were dry enough! His advice to me was to run our evap air con to put moisture into the air, don't mind that it's not hot enough for air con and during the day I'm the only family member home, hardly economical or environmentally friendly...... running the air con to keep my floor boards happy! An interesting response from a company who prides themselves on ... 'friendly & knowledgeable staffs are here to help you in making the best decision for your flooring project.' And so with so many excuses and little ownership of the problem we are taking it to consumer affairs!!! A1 Flooring = don't expect an A1 job!!!!

Thank you for such an awesome service. Knowledgeable and highly experienced. Good communication and completed in a timely manner. So easy to work with, and this is greatly appreciated when it comes to renovating. So much pride has been taken in the finished product. We love the ultra-matte finish!
Cannot fault the service or customer focus. From the initial quote meeting to completion of the exceptionally high standard polished boards, was a pleasure to deal with Brad, Chris and the A1 team. Thoroughly recommend A1 Flooring Adelaide.
