Before I start I just want the public to know I was in mediation with them for 1.5 months to see if they would resolve anything. Cut a long story short, nothing was remediated, and they directly asked me to be a decent human and not post my review, but i feel compelled to tell the truth about my experience so that people can have a very honest view of my experience and what you may experience. Let’s first start with something very important. Tile rescue have no power over their franchisees so you will be at the mercy of the franchisee who does your work. This means if you have any real issues, head office can’t do anything for you and you are at the mercy of the technician who did you work. I won’t call out the franchisee who did my work because he is a decent person. Let’s focus on the product and what happened. I hired them to so 2 showers repairs in different properties. The first property was a full new epoxy and seal across walls and floors of shower. Water was getting under the tiles so just needed everything sealed again. The technician went out and quoted, told me no issues and was confident the job would be easy. He did the work, but complained as he invoiced me that the shower was small and tight so cosmetically it may not be the best quality work. I have this place rented to a tenant so was unable to inspect. I asked would this affect the integrity of the sealing and he said no but usually I remove the shower screens for these type of showers then reinstall, so automatically i thought why didn’t you do this for me but are telling me after the repair? This repair costed about $1200 from memory. Anyhow I took his word and thought ok great I will hire him for my other property that actually had a more serious leak. This shower had a more serious leak where water was dripping downstairs through the floor. Got him out to quote and he said it was an easy fix and just needed epoxy grout. He seemed like a great guy from the previous work and had 5 star reviews on google. This job he said all was needed was the floor to be sealed with epoxy grout including the corners (which i found odd because silicone is usually used here because it is prone to movement in those joints) also first row of wall tiles in shower area re grouted. This costed $875. However before he commenced the work he wanted me to get a pressure test done to ensure pipes etc weren’t leaking which was fair enough although I did tell him this was tested years ago. Called a plumber out who charged $300 for this and no issues found so Tile rescue proceeded with the work. Came to inspect and the worked look OK, definitely not great but passable. The wall tiles did have some chips but they said this is common with the white ceramic tiles I have so i said fair enough. Anyhow let us all dry for 3 days to be extra safe, tested it and water still leaking in the exact same spot and rate. Called him back out and after investigating booked in to redo the worked but wanted to remove shower screen as suspected issue was from there now. So out goes shower screen and to his credit found really bad shower angles and large gaps in the tile where the shower angles go into the wall. So he cut out the plastic shower angles, and filled all gaps with epoxy grout. Few days later tested and good news no more leak. Finally we had a good result. He came back another day to help me put the shower screen back on, like i said he is a great guy. That all happened and somehow we managed to get the old screen back on. I had a tenant moving in the day after so no more testing could be done. I felt so grateful to the technician that I gave him a $400 cash tip because of all the times he came back out and I try to be fair and kind. Fast forward 6 months later, the tenants left so I went to the property just to do some maintenance and thought to have a look. To my surprise I noticed the epoxy grout starting to crack on the wall to floor joints. So i took some photos and sent to tile rescue. They believe it was just cosmetic. However i had an inkling to do another shower test, and bang water leak again. Nightmare came back. To his credit he came back but needed again to take out the shower screen, so we did and what I saw was pretty bad. Most of the epoxy under the shower rails had completely failed. Washed away, stained, cracked and deteriorated. So water was once again penetrating below the surface but this time it looked even worse. After much discussion the technician conceded that this couldnt be fixed above tile and needed a full shower renovation. Obviously as well I needed a new shower rail cos it had come on and off too many times now. In that moment i remember thinking to myself this is NOT how epoxy should work as I have used other similar companies. Although epoxy is in my opinion a bandaid solution, it should definitely last more than a few months. Anyhow it was left at that, failed shower, nothing else they could offer, no mentioned of compensation etc and I remember thinking to myself man I gave this guy a $400 tip and I feel so ripped off now. So after much back and forth thinking I decided to share my experience on productreview because I felt it was really important that others knew of my experience and I personally rely on online reviews to hire people. I felt horrible because I liked the technician on a personal level but also felt very ripped off. So I posted the review but selected the option of mediation to give the company a chance to respond. To their credit head office acted promptly although my feedback was directly shared with the technician despite me asking to keep it between us for now as I really liked the guy and wanted to see what head office could do. Manager contacted me and we went through it all for both jobs but focused on the leaking shower. Manager was a nice guy and seemed interested to help, I shared the photos of the failed epoxy and was told it looked like it was mixed incorrectly as it is a 2 part mixed epoxy. Now I am no expert but if a technician is getting this very basic task wrong something is seriously wrong and I could have avoided this situation if the batch was mixed correctly. They were interested to head back out but as it is all franchisee owners I wouldn’t be able to get someone else to do the work because who would pay for it as I would be liable. They had discussions with the technician who did my work and he wasn’t willing to offer any sort of refund and the crazy thing is I only asked for something not everything because I value peoples time, but not even the portion of the dodgy product? Anyways back and forth for weeks, them trying to convince the franchisee to refund a bit, him saying no. Me getting the phone calls about them working for on it etc. The communication from them kept slowing and slowing down, especially once they asked me to be a decent human and not post my review. Despite this I contacted another 3 times but nothing was getting done so in my eyes chapter closed, over a month of mediation and clearly they couldn’t do anything and weren’t willing to offer any compensation. So essentially to me mediation is as all about them trying to save face, not ruin reputation but no willingness to compensate which to me just shows they don’t really care. What this made me think is how many others who had a negative experience that did not post because they were pleaded with not too. But I thought i will be part of the solution, not the problem. I would warn anyone looking to use their services to have a good think and read of my review and hopefully you can avoid a situation like this. In the end now I spent $5000 to get my shower properly repaired which I am fine with, but if i did not hire tile rescue I would have been able to use that money towards this repair. Interesting that when they quote they don’t tell you it is a hard job, until after they invoice you. Had I known likelyhood of failure there’s no way I would have hired them and done the rebuild from the get go. Whether some technicians are trained poorly or just have no attention to detail I couldn’t tell you, but one thing I would do is never hire a place like this who can’t hold their franchisees accountable. Because it all comes down to your luck of who services your area. I 100% expect a bogus response to my review with not all the truth, but please be a good judge of that for yourselves and everything I have is with evidence. Good luck and truly hope no one experiences this.

Wayne repaired my Balcony in November 24 and there have been ongoing problems with a leak in the room below. He has come out promptly and assessed the situation and provided a report showing the leak was coming from the neighbours property all without asking for further payment. Also good and through job done initially
